What is a Student Sponsor?

Sponsor working with a student

At Desiderata school, we recognize that a student is much more likely to succeed scholastically and socially if they have an involved, caring support person. In response to this recognition, Desiderata requires that students work individually with a certified Sponsor.

More than a tutor, Sponsors work with their students on all subject course work. The Sponsor assists the student as an instructor, mentor, and support person. The relationship between the student and Sponsor is not unlike that of a master and apprentice, perhaps one of the most effective educational structures ever developed.

Desiderata Sponsors are assigned to no more than eight students at a given time. We feel that this 8:1 instructor:student ratio allows Sponsors the opportunity to better serve each student's needs and learning styles. Additionally, by limiting the number of students in each area, student to student distraction levels are minimized.
